Since 2019, Selective Response has been pummelling out raw, dark, industrial techno releases on his label Crisis Of Man. After being in lockdown on the West Coast for nearly 4 months, the young Californian producer is back this August, with what’s maybe his darkest offering yet with ‘Corruption’.
The title track ‘History Of Corruption’ kicks things off with a wall of sound - like a freight train crashing through a building. As the track progresses, energy and tension continue to build until the synth chords provide a brief exhale, only to have an acid line build up into the main drop, which brings in a wicked groove between the synth, kick, snare, and hats.
The appropriately named ‘Moment Of Desperation’ given the worlds current pandemic, takes the energy even further. A furious bassline and relentless energy from every element. Industrial clashes, trippy synth work, and dense atmosphere give way to a momentary break. Almost as soon as the break starts, the track returns in full force, striking like lightning in a thunderstorm.
